When British band Coldplay announced their India tour on September 19, fans were ecstatic. The buzz reached fever pitch when tickets for the five shows—three in Mumbai and two in Ahmedabad—went live, selling out in no time.
Those who managed to grab tickets were thrilled, while others scrambled on resale platforms in desperation.
The excitement took a turn when Coldplay revealed their final show in Ahmedabad on January 26 would be streamed live on Disney+ Hotstar. Many fans reconsidered attending in person, opting for the comfort of watching the Coldplay India concert from home instead of braving packed venues.
The first three Coldplay concerts in Mumbai on January 18 and 19 left fans with mixed feelings. While Coldplay's music and Chris Martin’s stage presence wowed the crowd, the overall experience was far from perfect. Fans expressed frustration with issues such as lackluster crowd energy and problems with the opening act.

The Coldplay Mumbai concert feedback was harsh, especially for the opening act by singer Jasleen Royal. Despite her popularity with songs like Raanjha and Din Shagna Da, many felt her performance fell flat.
Attendees, including celebrities, criticized her heavily on social media. Vishal Dadlani commented on Instagram, calling it an example of prioritising "followers over talent." Singer Antara Mitra and filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri echoed similar sentiments.
Fans also reported issues like unfair access, with some alleging that people entered the venue through “connections” without tickets. One concertgoer said, “I saw it happening for three days straight.”
The announcement of the livestream for the final Ahmedabad show reduced the frenzy for tickets. A fan from Noida shared, “We have tickets, but finding buyers is tough now, thanks to the livestream option.” For some, watching Coldplay songs from their living rooms seemed like the smarter choice.
However, true Coldplay fans still value the magic of seeing the band live. As one attendee put it, “The livestream is great, but nothing matches the experience of being in the crowd, watching Chris Martin perform Viva La Vida.”
Despite mixed reactions, Coldplay in India will remain a memorable rollercoaster of emotions for their fans.
