Actress Courteney Cox and Snow Patrol musician Johnny McDaid have reportedly ended their relationship after spending more than a decade together.  The couple, who first crossed paths in 2013 and became engaged less than a year later before briefly separating and eventually reuniting, have now decided to part ways once again.

The Friends star and the Northern Irish musician have called time on their relationship after being together for over 10 years. Cox and McDaid were last seen together publicly at the US Open in September 2025. Just a few months earlier, in July, the actress celebrated his 48th birthday with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram.

"Happy birthday to the man who can do most anything," Cox wrote alongside a collection of photos showing McDaid performing on stage, piloting a plane and proudly displaying a fish he had caught. She concluded the message with, "I love you always J."

The pair began dating in late 2013 after being introduced at a celebrity-filled house party hosted by Cox. Their romance quickly progressed, leading to an engagement just nine months later. However, they ended their engagement in late 2015 before rekindling their relationship the following year. Although they reunited, they chose not to get engaged again.

Speaking during a television interview in April 2024, Cox reflected on their earlier split, revealing that it unfolded during a couples therapy session.  "Three years in, we broke up, and it was really intense. We broke up in therapy. I didn't know it was coming, whether I should have or not," she said. "He just broke up within the first minute. And I was like, what? We were engaged, and I was so shocked. I was in so much pain."
She later explained that McDaid's decision stemmed from the emotional strain he was experiencing in the relationship.

"He wasn't trying to surprise me. He was in that much pain in the relationship. There was that much that needed to be dealt with that he had to protect himself around his heart," she shared. Despite describing the separation as one of the most painful experiences of her life, Cox said it ultimately became a turning point for both her personal growth and their relationship after they reconciled.

"It really taught me how I operated in the world," she said. "What were the things from my childhood that I needed? Like, whether it was to be adored by men or things that I didn't know how to let go to be in a relationship. To not take things personally, my boundaries. I just went into myself and I had a great therapist."

Looking back, Cox said she remains grateful for that difficult chapter, explaining that the breakup helped reshape their relationship and allowed them to return to each other with a healthier perspective the following year.
