The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2024 painted Mumbai red on Tuesday, celebrating cinematic excellence with a star-studded ceremony at Taj Lands End.
The gala evening saw Bollywood's biggest names grace the red carpet, accompanied by electrifying performances by Javed Ali, Sukhwinder Singh, and Nikhita Gandhi.
Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji emerged as the night's biggest winners, taking home the Best Actor and Best Actress awards for their respective roles in "Jawan" and "Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway."
The film itself reigned supreme, bagging both the Best Film and Best Music Director awards for Anirudh Ravichander.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga received the Best Director award for his work on "Animal," while Gnana Shekar V. S. garnered Best Cinematographer honors.
Critics' Choice awards highlighted diverse talent, with "12th Fail" capturing the Best Film title and Vicky Kaushal winning Best Actor for his performance in "Sam Bahadur."
Kareena Kapoor Khan's portrayal in "Jaane Jaan" earned her the Critics' Best Actress award, while Atlee Kumar's direction of "Jawan" resonated with the jury.
Veteran actors Anil Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia received accolades for their supporting roles in "Animal" and "Pathaan" respectively, while Bobby Deol's villainous turn in "Animal" brought him the Best Actor in a Negative Role award.
Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra were recognized for their comedic performances in "Dream Girl 2" and "Kathal," respectively.
Beyond Bollywood, Nayanthara received the Most Versatile Actress of the Year award, Vikrant Massey was named Most Promising Actor for his role in "12th Fail," and Adah Sharma's talent shone through in "The Kerala Story," earning her the Most Promising Actress title.
The international arena was not forgotten, with Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" being crowned Best International Feature Film.
For web series, Shahid Kapoor's performance in "Farzi" garnered him the Best Actor award, while Sushmita Sen's return in "Aarya Season 3" earned her the Best Actress title.
"The Railway Men" impressed the Critics' Choice jury, while Aditya Roy Kapur and Karishma Tanna were recognized for their roles in "The Night Manager" and "Scoop," respectively.
Music awards saw popular choices, with Varun Jain taking home the Best Playback Singer (Male) award for "Tere Vaaste" from "Zara Hatke Zara Bachke," and Shilpa Rao winning Best Playback Singer (Female) for "Besharam Rang" from "Pathaan." K.J. Yesudas and Moushumi Chatterjee were honoured for their outstanding contributions to the music and film industries, respectively.
Rounding out the ceremony, "Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire" was named Film of the Year, and "Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin" emerged as Television Series of the Year. Neil Bhatt and Rupali Ganguly received acting awards for their roles in the respective shows.
