Actor Dhanush has taken legal action against Nayanthara and her husband, Vignesh Shivan, along with their production company, Rowdy Pictures Private Limited, and others.
The case, filed through Dhanush's Wunderbar Films Private Limited, accuses them of using unauthorised clips from the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in the Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale. The Madras High Court heard the case on November 27.
During the hearing, Justice Abdul Quiddhose asked Nayanthara, Vignesh Shivan, and others involved to respond to the allegations.
The Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale was released on November 18, coinciding with Nayanthara's birthday. Before its release, tensions rose between the two parties.
Dhanush had refused to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the use of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan clips. Following this, Nayanthara wrote a sharp open letter accusing Dhanush of personal bias and labeling him a "tyrant."
Dhanush responded by sending a legal notice threatening to sue the couple if they used the clips without permission. He also demanded Rs. 10 crore in damages for any unauthorised use.
Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan defended their actions, claiming that the behind-the-scenes (BTS) footage used in the documentary was captured on personal devices and not subject to Dhanush's control.

The case has now drawn attention as Nayanthara vs Dhanush becomes a hot topic, highlighting tensions between the former collaborators of the hit film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.
