The latest in the line of spy thrillers by Aditya Dhar, ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, has shattered all box office records in the first week itself by garnering a staggering ₹1,088 crore worldwide. The Ranveer Singh-starring movie, produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, has now firmly established itself as one of the most significant hits in the history of Indian cinema, having raked in ₹814 crore in the country itself, along with ₹274 crore from the overseas market in the first eight days of the movie's release.
The movie's run has been relentless. After a record-breaking opening weekend that saw it net ₹761 crore globally in four days, it refused to slow down during the working week. Domestic earnings remained remarkably high, with Thursday alone bringing in ₹53 crore in India. Perhaps most impressively, the sequel became the first Indian film to breach the ₹100 crore milestone in a single language in one day, thanks to a massive ₹145 crore haul from its combined paid previews and opening day.
Picking up from the events of Dhar’s 2025 blockbuster, the story moves to the gritty Lyari town of Karachi— an area infamous for its gangland violence. Ranveer Singh plays Hamza Ali Mazari, a character navigating the Karachi underworld while the plot unpicks his complex past as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, a young man turned covert operative. The ensemble cast, featuring R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt, appears to have hit a chord with audiences across the country, with the film playing in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
Makers of the film confirmed that the sequel has set new benchmarks for the fastest run to the ₹1,000 crore mark and the strongest weekday hold ever recorded for an Indian production. As it enters its second weekend, industry analysts are watching closely to see just how high this spy saga can climb, with many suggesting it could eventually challenge the all-time top spots in the global rankings.
