Farhan Akhtar, actor-producer and co-founder of Excel Entertainment, shared the long-awaited news on Thursday, "Mirzapur 3" is set to release on July 5.
The popular Prime Video series, backed by Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, has garnered a massive following worldwide.
At the trailer launch of the crime series, Akhtar expressed his excitement, noting the show's phenomenal success.
"'Mirzapur' has made a significant impact globally. Wherever I go, people ask me two questions: 'When is 'Don 3' coming?' and 'When is 'Mirzapur 3' coming?' I'm thrilled to finally answer these questions," Akhtar said.
The much-anticipated third installment of "Don," directed by Akhtar, will feature Ranveer Singh taking over from Shah Rukh Khan. However, details about the film remain scarce.
"Mirzapur" season three, directed by Gurmmeet Singh and Anand Iyer, explores the power struggles among new and returning characters in the crime-ridden city of Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh.
Akhtar praised the creative team behind the series for their exceptional work, attributing the show's success to their talent and understanding of audience preferences.
"The writing is crucial. In today's world, if you don't engage the audience, they can easily switch to other content. The characters must be compelling. We're fortunate to have such talented collaborators on this show," Akhtar remarked.
The third season of "Mirzapur" features a stellar cast, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, Shweta Tripathi Sharma as Golu Gupta, Rasika Dugal as Beena Tripathi, Vijay Varma as Bharat Tyagi, Isha Talwar as Madhuri Yadav, Anjumm Shharma as Sharad Shukla, and Priyanshu Painyuli as Radheshyam Aggarwal.
Rajesh Tailang and Sheeba Chadha also return as Guddu Pandit's parents.
Tripathi, who plays the formidable Kaleen Bhaiya, credited the show's writers and directors for his performance.
"The writers deserve all the credit. They give me the lines, and the director guides me. We're just puppets, following their lead," he said.
Shweta Tripathi Sharma expressed her enthusiasm for her character's evolution.
"Golu was like a 'rasgulla' in season one. In season two, she became 'aag babula' (hot-headed), and in season three, she's 'bomb ka gola.' Golu is so much fun to play, I absolutely love her," she said, adding, "I can't wait to start the hashtag #mirzapurseason4."
Director Gurmmeet Singh admitted he still feels nervous before a new season's premiere. "With every season, we think we'll have better control over our nerves, but the excitement and nerves always come back.
The theme of season three is about being relentless, and I hope the fans enjoy it," he said.
Vijay Varma, who portrayed the Tyagi brothers in the previous season, teased more twists and turns.
"Bad things happen to the Tyagi family, and revenge becomes the main theme. You'll see different shades of revenge this season," he hinted.
Akhtar's announcement comes as a relief to fans eagerly awaiting both "Mirzapur 3" and "Don 3."
