It’s a motivational anthem, says actor, director, producer and singer Farhan Akhtar, talking about his latest single, Reach For The Stars.
Akhtar released the 4.28-minute song on Thursday on his official YouTube channel.
According to a press release, Reach For The Stars is a "powerful anthem of perseverance, courage, and the indomitable human spirit".
Akhtar, who has previously sung songs for films such as Rock On!! and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, has sung, composed the music and written the song’s lyrics.
Currently he is looking forward to directing his next film Don 3, starring Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani. It is expected to be released in 2025.
Akhtar received plaudits for Dil Chahta Hai (2001), the first movie he directed, which was described as a "realistic portrait of Indian youth."
He won a National Award for the movie.
The war movie Lakshya (2004) followed and then the thriller Don (2006) and sequel Don 2 (2011).
His screen roles include the musical drama Rock On!! (2008), for which he won a second National Film Award for Best Hindi Film (as producer). Another movie that won the hearts of youngsters included the frothy Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), which he produced, wrote dialogues for and acted in.
His biopic on athlete Milkha Singh in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013) won him the Filmfare Award for Best Actor.
Other movies Dil Dhadakne Do (2015), Wazir (2016), The Sky Is Pink (2019) and Toofaan (2021) were also well received.
