Hindi movie star Farhan is all set to play the role of Major Shaitan Singh, recipient of the Paramvir Chakra in his upcoming film 120 Bahadur, an Army action film based on the 1962 Indo-China War, the producers revealed on Wednesday.
The movie draws inspiration from the battle of Rezang La, where soldiers of the famous Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment, showcased unparalleled selfless courage, heroism and sacrifice.
120 Bahadur is presented by Ritesh Sidhwani and Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment in collaboration with Amit Chandrra’s Trigger Happy Studios.
The shoot for the first phase has already begun in Ladakh today, an Excel Entertainment post said on its official X page.
“What they accomplished will never be forgotten. It is an absolute privilege to bring you the story of Maj Shaitan Singh PVC and the soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment.
“Famously known as the Battle of Rezang La, fought on the 18th of November 1962 during the Indo-China war, it is a story of remarkable courage, heroism and selflessness shown by our men in uniform against all odds,” the banner wrote on the X post.
The makers thanked the Indian Army for their support and assistance, for “bringing this epic tale of valour to the screen.”
"We begin today in humility and with the most respect for those we represent in the making of this film. 120 Bahadur," they wrote.
The film is being directed by Rajneesh Ghai, who has earlier helmed Dhaakad starring Kangana Ranaut, under the production banner of Excel Entertainment.
Farhan Akhtar took to his Instagram page last week and announced that he has reached Ladakh to shoot a "special film". Farhan previously shot Lakshya and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag in the region.
"Back in Ladakh after Lakshya and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag to shoot for a very special film. The photo below sums it up," Farhan captioned it.
The actor posted a picture of the beautiful landscape of Ladakh.
His second directorial stint was Lakshya, set during the 1999 Kargil War. He did the character of the late Milkha Singh in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.
Farhan's last release as an actor happened to be a sports drama titled Toofaan in 2021. His next outing as a director will be Don 3 starring Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani.
