Govinda, aged 60, suffered leg injuries on Tuesday when his revolver accidentally discharged at his Mumbai home as he was preparing to leave for the airport, according to the police.

Following the incident, Govinda reassured his fans in a statement that doctors had successfully removed the bullet and that he was doing well, attributing his recovery to the support of his fans and the blessings of god.

"With the blessings of my fans, my parents and god, I am doing better now. I was hit by a bullet, which has now been removed. I thank the doctor here, Dr Agarwal ji. I thank all of you for your prayers," Govinda said in an audio message.

The Mumbai police official stated that the actor, who had been hospitalised following the accident, is now safe and recovering at his residence.

According to Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, the incident occurred as Govinda was preparing to depart for the airport at 4:45 a.m. for a 6 a.m. flight to Kolkata for a show. It was reported that the trigger of his licensed revolver was accidentally pressed as he was placing it in the cupboard.

Police reported that the gun discharged and a bullet struck his leg.

Following the incident, the injured actor was taken to Criti Care Hospital for medical attention. Authorities mentioned that no complaint has been filed, and they have initiated an inquiry into the incident.
