Renowned Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has opened up about his creative involvement in crafting some of his iconic comic dialogues, shedding light on his spontaneous approach to humor both on and off screen.
Acknowledging the contribution of acclaimed filmmakers Priyadarshan, Rajkumar Santoshi, and the late writer Neeraj Vohra in shaping his comedic persona, Akshay Kumar credited them for recognizing his potential as a versatile comedy actor.
Famous for his impeccable comic timing in films like "Hera Pheri," "Bhool Bhulaiyaa," and "Welcome," Akshay Kumar revealed his penchant for injecting humor into his characters during a candid conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia. He emphasized that his real-life persona, characterized by a fun-loving nature, often influences his on-screen improvisations.
He said, “Many dialogues that you see are not written in the script. I make them up and you can figure it out that no writer can write these dialogues"
Reflecting on his diverse range of comic roles, from the mischievous Raju in "Hera Pheri" to the endearing Sunny in "Mujhse Shaadi Karoge," Akshay Kumar highlighted the common thread of humor that binds his characters. "If you see even De Dana Dhan, Bhaagam Bhaag, Wicked Sunny (Mujhse Shaadi Karoge), Raju or Hera Pheri, they are of the same genre, but someone is nice, someone is poor, someone is mediocre, but their thinking is the same. In life also, mujhe masti bohot soojhti hai," he shared.
While Akshay Kumar initially made his mark in Bollywood with action-packed ventures like "Saugandh" and "Khiladi," he transitioned seamlessly into comedy with films such as "Hera Pheri" and "Bhagam Bhag," earning accolades from audiences and critics alike.
"Comedy is a very inbuilt thing, that somebody has to tap in. Like, if someone could tap it in me, it was Priyadarshan sahab and two more people – Rajkumar Santoshi and there was a boy who was a writer Neeraj Vohra. These three people made me feel that I can do this as well," he remarked.
