“My career at the moment is like the humiliation of Olivia Cooke,” she added.

“The Girlfriend” actor Olivia Cooke has shared how she finds filming sex scenes “mortifying”.

Cooke admitted that her heart sinks when there is a racy scene in a script. The actress also revealed having suffered embarrassing moments before the camera starts to roll.

The Oldham-born actress, who stars in the psychological thriller “The Girlfriend” with Robin Wright, previously played murderous queen Alicent Hightower in the fantasy drama “House of the Dragon”.

Sex scenes were integral to the plot of the latter show, which is part of the “Game of Thrones” series and packed with prostitutes and no-holds-barred bed-hopping.

Cooked said: “It’s odd, isn’t it? It’s an odd part of the job. You see it looming in the schedule and you’re like, Jesus Christ! For some reason, it’s all happened to me as I’ve turned 30. It’s happening quite a lot… it’s happening all the time.”

“My career at the moment is like the humiliation of Olivia Cooke,” she added.

Cooke went on to describe how uncomfortable and “mortifying” it is to prepare for such scenes. “You have to wear these intimacy garments—sort of nudity covers—which are basically like a bit of gusset with a silicon pad in it that you have to tape to yourself.”

“And it’s really hard,” she said, adding that she had to often seek help from her trusted, long-time dresser Alexandra Bland, calling the experience “weird” and “odd.”

Cooke, who started acting at the age of eight, starred in the three-part series “Blackout” as a teenager followed by supernatural thriller “The Secret of Crickley Hall”.  She later featured in US TV horror drama “Bates Motel” when she was 18.

Olivia has also starred in Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi adventure “Ready Player One and Vanity Fair”, “Thoroughbreds” and “Slow Horses”.
