Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has publicly endorsed Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel’s controversial remarks on motherhood and traditional gender roles.
Just days after making headlines for her commentary on the Ketan Agarwal murder case, Ranaut shared a video of Patel’s speech on X.
In her social media post, the “Queen” actress strongly agreed with the Governor’s view that women should master cooking for their families, regardless of whether they pursue high-profile careers like teaching or the IAS. Ranaut defended the stance by stating that nurturing humanity is a woman's "true nature".
She wrote on X, "When we were small my brother played football and cricket but I carefully built doll houses, stitched their clothes and cooked their food, much to everyone's amusement in the house. I made small chulahs and pretended to be a doll mom."
"It is not something that we need to learn. God has bestowed on us the duty of nurturing humanity; it is our true nature. That's why women are called Devi, Shakti, Annapurna, Mata and many more such forms. But beyond all that it is such a joy to love, to feed, to dance and to nurture," the post read.
Ranaut also shared a video clip of Anandiben Patel addressing a crowd in Kanpur. "Women today should learn how to cook for their families. Whether you become a teacher or an IAS officer, you should first become an expert mother," Patel said.
"What is a mother's duty? To train her daughter in every way. She should not face any difficulties at her in-laws'. And if she does, she should deal with them on her own merit. We need to give that strength to our daughters," added Patel. She also quoted recent "unfathomable" instances of women even killing their prospective husbands to defy their parents' choice of grooms.

Ranaut's post did not go down well with netizens. A large section of social media users criticised her for glorifying patriarchy.
A comment read, "dont agree with you stop glorifying overworking of women in the name of devi shakti women are human beings and get tired like human beings they don’t have some magical powers to do evrything at once for once try to teach men how to do their basic chores for themselves.”
Another comment read, "You should know what to eat and how to eat. Cooking is a patriarchy that was thrown around for a million years and it's embarrassing to see @KanganaTeam glorifying it. You won't understand the real meaning of the words Shakti and Annapoorna."
“And who will tell men to become expert fathers, providers & protectors before they start their careers?" another user wrote.
“I am so surprised you’re supporting this statement Kangana,” wrote yet another X user.
Never the one to shy away from sharing her views on burning socio-economic issues, Ranaut recently leveraged the tragic Siya Goyal-Ketan Agarwal case to issue a stern warning to India's youth. She said passion without an objective often leads to self-destructive actions.
On the work front, Kangana has just finished shooting for “Queen 2”. The film was embroiled in a major controversy after the makers were sued by Phantom Studios in a Rs 250-crore lawsuit over alleged unauthorised use of intellectual property.
