Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut celebrated the completion of illustrious two decades in cinema by sharing with her fans and followers a glimpse from her very first portfolio shoot.

"Today I completed 20 years in the film industry, this is my first portfolio by @jatinkampani that landed me the role of Simran in Gangster," the BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi said in an Instagram post.
Ranaut added that the portfolio served as a stepping stone in her cinematic journey, symbolising her transformation from an aspiring outsider to a formidable name in the industry with four National Awards to her name.
The “Queen” actress also shared another photograph from her first magazine shoot, taking followers back to her early days in Bollywood before she became one of the industry's biggest stars.
Directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt under Vishesh Films, “Gangster” released in 2006 and instantly catapulted Kangana into stardom. The romantic thriller featured Kangana in the female lead alongside Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja. The music of the film, composed by Pritam, is much loved even today.

Following her high-impact debut, Kangana went on to build her acting portfolio with notable roles in “Woh Lamhe...”, “Life in a... Metro”, “Fashion”, “Raaz: The Mystery Continues” and “Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai”.
Her career reached new heights in 2011 with the massive success of “Tanu Weds Manu”, where her comedic timing with R. Madhavan garnered significant acclaim. The success ushered in a definitive golden era for Kangana in cinema. The actress went on to win back-to-back National Film Awards for Best Actress for her stellar performances in “Queen” and “Tanu Weds Manu Returns”. This cemented her status as a versatile and high-value artist in Hindi cinema.
On the work front, Kangana was last seen in her 2025 directorial “Emergency” in which she portrayed the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Her upcoming projects include the highly anticipated “Queen 2”and “Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata”. She is also expected to return for “Tanu Weds Manu 3”.
