A decade after Kim Kardashian and then-husband Kanye West had an infamous public fallout with Taylor Swift, the SKIMS founder says she has no bad blood with the pop star and in fact, she may just be a “Swiftie”.
Kim made the surprising revelation on her sister’s podcast, “Khloé in Wonderland”, on Wednesday.
Kim was responding to sister Khloé Kardashian’s question whether she thinks people will be shocked to know that she bumps the “Anti-Hero” hitmaker’s songs in her free time. Kim categorically stated that she has nothing but respect for Taylor.
“I have some of her older songs in my playlist. I've always thought she's like a super talented, great artist,” the 44-year-old reality TV star said.
The path to reconciliation—at least regarding Taylor Swift's music—has been a decade-long saga. While the friction began at the 2009 MTV VMAs, the conflict reached its peak in 2016 when Kim released footage of a private phone call between Swift and Kanye.
Kardashian claimed the video proved Swift had approved the controversial lyrics in West’s track “Famous,” specifically the line: "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b---h famous."

Swift consistently denied this, maintaining she was never played the full song or informed of the specific derogatory terms used. Her version of events was finally vindicated four years later in 2020, when the full, unedited conversation leaked, proving that the original 2016 footage had been edited to misrepresent her approval.
Following this, Kim—who split from Kanye in 2021—set out to clear her name.
"@taylorswift13 has chosen to reignite an old exchange,” Kim wrote on X in March 2020, adding, “because she continues to speak on it, I feel I'm left without a choice but to respond because she is actually lying. To be clear, the only issue I ever had around the situation was that Taylor lied through her publicist who stated that 'Kanye never called to ask for permission...’ They clearly spoke so I let you all see that. Nobody ever denied the word 'bitch' was used without her permission."
But Taylor felt that the damage to her reputation had been done. "You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar," she said in an interview in December 2023. "That took me down psychologically to a place I've never been before."
At the time, the Grammy winner thought the scandal to be the end of her music career, adding, “Make no mistake, my career was taken away from me."
