“It’s good for them... the little things like that, as a parent, make, ultimately, I think, a big difference in the long run,” the TV star said.

American television personality and fashion designer Kristin Cavallari is a strict parent, one who believes in instilling a strong sense of financial responsibility in her children.

During the latest episode of the podcast “Aspire with Emma Grede”, Cavallari revealed her family travel policy: she sits in first class while her three kids fly coach. The 39-yer-old TV star added that this is one of her efforts to teach her kids about money. She shares sons Camden Jack, 13, Jaxon Wyatt, 12, and daughter Saylor James, 10, with ex-husband Jay Cutler.

“The Hills” alum added that “It’s good for them” and thinks that “the little things like that, as a parent, make, ultimately, I think, a big difference in the long run.”

“My kids don’t just get whatever they want. And if they want something, they have to work for it,” the reality star-turned-entrepreneur said. She went on to reveal that her sons launched their own small businesses last summer and the hands-on venture served as a practical introduction to the world of entrepreneurship. “So one of my boys was washing people’s windows. And the other one was washing people’s garbage cans. Because if they want something, they got to go work for it. And they got to make it happen,” she said.

After her early-2000s reality TV fame on “Laguna Beach” and “The Hills”, Cavallari transitioned to business by launching her lifestyle brand, Uncommon James, and moving to Nashville. Even as an established entrepreneur, she admitted she is still figuring out how to balance her personal and professional life. “I think there are so many ways to come into being a businesswoman and a mother, and there is no one size fits all,” Cavallari added.

Cavallari recently said in an interview that her children have zero interest in her reality TV past. She added that as they transition into their early teenage years, the three children are focusing entirely on cultivating their own unique interests outside of the Hollywood spotlight.
