Disney signed south star Mahesh Babu to voice Mufasa in the franchise blockbuster, The Lion King’s Telugu version.
The Telugu trailer will launch on August 26.
According to a report, The Lion King is set to release in India in vernacular languages, while the Hindi version is handled by Shahrukh Khan and his two sons, the Telugu version is being voiced by Mahesh.
Mahesh in a statement said, “I have always admired Disney’s blockbuster legacy of entertainment and timeless storytelling; the character of Mufasa appeals to me not only as a loving father guiding his son but as the supreme king of the jungle taking care of his clan.”
“My family means everything to me, and this collaboration with Disney is personally very special as it is an experience I will cherish with my children! I am looking forward to when my family as well as my fans will be watching Mufasa: The Lion King in Telugu on the big screen on 20th December,” Mahesh Babu continued in a statement.
Recently in the Hindi trailer launch, Khan voiced Mufasa, while his sons Aryan and AbRam will voice Simba and young Mufasa respectively.
The film is directed by Berry Jenkins and blends live-action with computer imagery.
