Shooting has started on the much-anticipated "Freaky Friday 2," as announced by Walt Disney Studios.
A behind-the-scenes photo from the filming of the sequel to the 2003 movie, which featured Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, was shared by the studio.
Lohan and Curtis will reprise their roles as Anna and Tess Coleman, respectively, for "Freaky Friday 2," which will premiere next year.
"The Colemans are back and coming to theatres in 2025! The sequel to Freaky Friday is now in production!" Walt Disney Studios said in an X post on Monday.
Variety reports that Sophia Hammons and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan will join the film's cast, alongside returning original cast members Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao. Ramakrishnan is known for her role in Netflix's "Never Have I Ever."
The movie's cast will also include Julia Butters and Manny Jacinto, and Nisha Ganatra will direct the film.
Mark Waters directed the original "Freaky Friday", a story about a mother-daughter duo played by Curtis and Lohan, whose souls swap after visiting a mysterious Chinese restaurant and wake up in each other's bodies the next morning.
Andrew Gunn, the producer of the 2003 original, is returning to produce the sequel.
