Kerala police have filed a case against filmmaker Chidambaram S Poduval, who was responsible for the film "Manjummel Boys," after a woman filed an official complaint alleging sexual harassment against him. The case was registered by the Ernakulam South police early on Sunday morning.
The allegations in this incident go back to 2022, when the actress alleged that Chidambaram entered her apartment in Elamkulam, Kochi, with the intent of sexually assaulting her. The police acted on her statement and filed an FIR against him under the BNS.
The case has been filed under Section 74 (assault or use of criminal force with intent to outrage modesty) and Section 75 (sexual harassment) of the BNS.
The Incident allegedly occurred at a flat in Kochi approximately four years ago.
Police have recorded the woman’s statement and are expected to issue a formal notice to Chidambaram for questioning shortly.
Chidambaram, who rose to significant fame after Manjummel Boys became one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films in history, has yet to issue a public statement regarding the claims. The investigation is underway, and officers have indicated that further action will depend on the outcome of the interrogation.
