Actor Michael Fassbender is currently negotiating a role in “The Origin of the World”, the highly anticipated upcoming project from director Brady Corbet. The film marks Corbet's follow-up to his highly acclaimed drama “The Brutalist".
Though the plot details of the mystery-shrouded film remain under wraps, the director had previously shared that the project will be X-rated and primarily set in the 1970s.
"The film spans from the 19th century into the present day, it’s just predominantly focused on the ’70s. The film is really, really genre-defying," he said.
The film is produced by David Kaplan and Andrew Morrison under the production banner Kaplan Morrison.

His latest work is "Black Bag", which released in 2025. The film also starred Cate Blanchett and revolved around Kathryn Woodhouse, an intelligence agent, who is suspected of betraying the country. Fassbender essayed the role of her husband, George.
He will next feature in "Hope". The film will have its worldwide premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 17.
