Netflix announced the renewal of "Kohrra" for its second season, a popular crime thriller series.
Actor Barun Sobti will reprise his role in the upcoming season, with Mona Singh joining him in the Punjab-based police show. The first season of "Kohrra" premiered to great success in July 2023.
The new season will be helmed by showrunner, producer, and co-creator Sudip Sharma, alongside Faisal Rahman. In a statement, Netflix revealed that Act Three Productions and Film Squad Productions will produce the upcoming season.
Sharma will make his producer debut with the second season, under Act Three Productions, and will also direct the new season.
"'Kohrra' has been more than just a show for us- it’s a piece of our hearts. We’ve poured everything we have into this story, and seeing the love it has received is incredibly moving.
"It’s inspired us to come back with something even more powerful. We’re committed to telling stories that feel real, that reflect the lives of real people with rawness and authenticity, and that’s exactly what you’ll see in the new season on Netflix," Sharma said.
The second season is set to explore a different murder mystery while delving into family dynamics, interpersonal secrets, and the misty backdrop of Punjab.
Sobti is set to play Garundi once again, a young police officer who delved into a murky crime while facing his own aspirations and conflicts in the initial season.
Information about Singh's character has been kept confidential.
"Kohrra" received high praise from both the audience and critics, especially acknowledging Suvinder Vicky's portrayal of the troubled sub-inspector Balbir Singh as he grapples with his personal struggles while solving the murder of an NRI groom.
Gunjit Chopra and Diggi Sisodia co-created "Kohrra," which is also produced by Saurabh Malhotra, Manuj Mittra, and Tina Tharwani.
