Ranbir Kapoor has become the latest high-profile figure to invest in Ayodhya’s booming property market, putting down ₹3.31 crore for a 2,134-square-foot plot. The land is situated within ‘The Sarayu’, an ambitious 75-acre luxury development by The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL) perched along the banks of the Sarayu river.
This is not just an ordinary housing project; rather, it is being promoted as an elite lifestyle complex that offers more than 35 facilities, a large clubhouse, and a five-acre luxury hotel that will be run by The Leela Hotels. Indeed, in line with the spiritual sanctity of the place, the hotel itself is expected to be a vegetarian hotel.
In retrospect, speaking about his purchase, Kapoor described it as somewhat of a spiritual “call” in light of the cultural essence of Ayodhya. He described the investment as a way to secure a piece of this heritage for his family’s future legacy. The actor also gave a nod to the efficiency of the transaction, praising the developer for a "seamless and transparent" digital acquisition process.
Abhinandan Lodha, Chairman of HoABL, sees the actor’s entry into the market as a significant vote of confidence. According to Lodha, Ayodhya is currently at the heart of a national spiritual and cultural revival, backed by serious long-term growth in infrastructure and tourism. He suggested that Kapoor’s investment proves that discerning buyers are no longer looking at the city through a purely emotional lens, but rather as a strategic, forward-thinking destination.
The city has certainly undergone a massive facelift in recent years. Massive public funding, improved transport links, and a series of large-scale infrastructure projects have turned Ayodhya from a pilgrimage site into a premier real estate hotspot, drawing eyes from across the globe. For Kapoor, and many others, it seems the city’s rising trajectory is too significant to ignore.
