Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan was hospitalised in Ahmedabad on Wednesday following a severe heat stroke.

The superstar was admitted to K D Hospital, according to local police.

Khan, who owns the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) IPL team, had been in Ahmedabad on Tuesday to attend an IPL match at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The sweltering heat saw temperatures soar to 45.2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and 45.9 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

"Actor Shah Rukh Khan was admitted to K D Hospital after suffering from a heat stroke," stated Om Prakash Jat, Superintendent of Police, Ahmedabad (Rural).

In response to the situation, security around the hospital has been heightened to ensure Khan's safety and privacy.

The day before his hospitalisation, Khan was seen celebrating KKR's impressive eight-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad, which secured the team a spot in their fourth IPL final.

Videos posted on KKR’s official X account captured Khan taking a lap of honour with his children, Suhana and AbRam Khan, and greeting fans and players.

The IPL final is scheduled to take place in Chennai on Sunday, with KKR vying for the championship title.
