Shillong, Meghalaya's picturesque capital, is gearing up for its much-anticipated Cherry Blossom Festival, set to take place on November 15 and 16.
This year’s festival promises to be a grand affair, with a stellar lineup of both international and Indian artists.
Preparations for the annual event are already in full swing, aiming to create an unforgettable experience for attendees.
The festival, renowned for celebrating music, culture, and unity, will feature an impressive roster of performers.
Highlighting this year’s festival is Senegalese-American singer and songwriter Akon, known for global hits like “Smack That” and “Lonely.”
Akon, who last performed in India at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s lavish wedding earlier this year, is expected to draw large crowds to Shillong with his chart-topping tracks.
Joining Akon on stage will be Maizie Williams of the iconic pop group Boney M. Boney M, famous for 1970s and 80s hits such as “Rasputin” and “Rivers of Babylon,” remains a beloved name in pop music.
Williams’ performance is set to evoke nostalgia among fans who grew up with the group's memorable tunes.
In addition to international stars, the festival will showcase a strong line-up of Indian artists, ensuring a diverse musical experience.
Meghalaya's own Lou Majaw and Rudy Wallang, both celebrated figures in the local music scene, will also perform. Their participation adds a touch of local flavour to the festival, enhancing its appeal for both residents and visitors.
