Singer Shreya Ghoshal has postponed her highly anticipated Kolkata concert, originally scheduled for 14 September, in response to the recent rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar hospital.
In a heartfelt message on X, Ghoshal expressed her profound shock and grief over the "gruesome and heinous" crime.
The artist, who is deeply affected by the incident, said that as a woman, she found the brutality described in the reports "unthinkable" and deeply disturbing.
Ghoshal, along with her promoters at Ishq FM, announced that the concert, part of the 'Shreya Ghoshal Live, All Hearts Tour Ishq FM Grand Concert', will be rescheduled to a date in October.
She maintained that taking a stand and showing solidarity with the ongoing protests was of utmost importance.
"This concert was eagerly awaited, but it is crucial for me to join in solidarity with those demanding justice," Ghoshal stated.
She appealed to her fans for understanding and support, highlighting the need for respect and safety for women everywhere.
