The Actor Awards—formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild or SAG Awards—took over Hollywood’s elite at L.A. Shrine Auditorium this Sunday. The final stop on the road to the Academy Awards managed to deliver a few shockers to a previously unsurprising season.
The cast of vampire thriller “Sinners” took home the prize for ensemble in a motion picture, and Michael B. Jordan bagged the honour for lead actor for his dual role in the film, snapping “One Battle After Another’s” award season winning streak.
Also in the film categories, Jessie Buckley won best leading actress for “Hamnet”, while Sean Penn was named best supporting actor for his role in “One Battle After Another”. Amy Madigan won the supporting actress nod for “Weapons”.
In television category, “The Studio” continued its dominance among comedies, winning for ensemble, performance by a male actor, Seth Rogen, and performance by a female actor, the late Catherine O’Hara. Seth also accepted the honour on behalf of O’Hara, who died in January, giving a touching tribute to his late co-star.
