A decade after turning down the offer, award-winning British singer Adele is reportedly in discussions to headline the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show set to take place next February in Santa Clara, California.
The singer had previously declined the opportunity in 2016, citing reservations about the event format.
Other artists like Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus are also on the list of potential headliners for the event, reports suggest. Earlier this month, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell fuelled speculation about Swift’s involvement. “She is a special, special talent and obviously she would be welcome at any time," he said.
Explaining her decision to decline the 2018 Super Bowl, Adele stated, "First of all, I'm not doing the Super Bowl, I mean, that show is not about music. I can't dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I did say no.”

Although not performing, Adele had attended the Super Bowl in 2024 as a fan with her fiancé Rich Paul. "Obviously I didn't go for the football. I went to watch Rihanna."
Meanwhile, reports indicate Adele is also preparing to release a tell-all autobiography, having signed a multi-million-pound deal after years of turning down publishers.
Earlier this year, Kendrick Lamar set a new benchmark for Super Bowl halftime shows, drawing 133.5 million viewers for his performance at Super Bowl LIX. The Grammy-winning rapper broke the long-standing record of 133.4 million set by Michael Jackson in 1993.
