The team behind the blockbuster film 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' reunited on Monday evening to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the iconic movie. The commemorative gathering brought together lead actors Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel alongside director Anil Sharma to mark the silver jubilee of one of Hindi cinema’s most successful and enduring titles.
During the event, cast and crew members reflected on the film’s lasting popularity. Deol and Patel posed for photographs together before joining the rest of the assembled team for group pictures. Singer Udit Narayan, who performed the film's defining tracks such as ‘Udja Kale Kawan’ and ‘Main Nikla Gaddi Leke’, attended the celebration dressed in an all-white ensemble. Other notable guests included filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, actor Mushtaq Khan, and Utkarsh Sharma.
As the team cheered him on, Deol, dressed casually in a shirt and jeans, cut a customised chocolate cake to mark the milestone. Patel attended the celebration wearing a striking golden lehenga.
Earlier in the day, Deol took to Instagram to share memories of the film and his legendary character, Tara Singh. He expressed his gratitude to fans, noting that the bond of love created by the film 25 years ago continues to run strong, and thanked audiences for their abundant support over the decades. He also shared a selection of stills from the movie, evoking nostalgia for its original release at the turn of the millennium.
Directed by Anil Sharma, the romantic action-drama starred Deol and Patel alongside the late Amrish Puri. Set against the turbulent backdrop of the Partition, the narrative followed the story of Tara Singh and Sakina, whose love faces immense hardship when Sakina’s father forces her to remain in Pakistan, separating her from her husband and child.
Gadar was known for its status as one of the highest grossing movies in the history of Indian cinema. The movie managed to achieve success once again at the box office by making an appearance on August 11, 2023 with its second edition 'Gadar 2'.
