Currently riding high on the success of his latest film, Thamma, Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurana shared an emotional note on the occasion of the film crossing the ₹50-crore mark at the box office, saying the film came as a “beautiful divine light” for him and his family.
In his Instagram post on Friday, the actor shared a compilation that included a video from his Diwali celebration with his family, a picture of his late father, PK Khurana, and one with his on-screen father, Paresh Rawal. The post also included a picture of his fans surrounding him during a theatre screening of Thamma.
Expressing gratitude for the success of the film, Khurana said it came as a huge relief after the emotional ordeal that his family has been through, following the passing of his father in May, 2023, following prolonged illness.
In April, his wife and filmmaker, Tahira Kashyap, revealed that her breast cancer had relapsed after seven years. She underwent treatment and is currently focusing on regaining her health.
“This family has seen a lot in the last few years. The success of Thamma is like a beautiful divine light. It is a result of the collective prayers of the young and the old present here. आयुष्मान भव:… that’s what my father used to say whenever I touched his feet. When Paresh ji said आयुष्मान भव: in the film, it felt like my father, my guardian angel, had blessed me,” he wrote.
“My family, my late father and the audience have blessed Thamma with love. Don’t be surprised if you come across an overwhelmed me in one of the theatres in the suburbs - I may drop in to say hi and thank you!” he added.

The actor also recently spoke with a news portal on working with Sooraj Barjatya, known for his family dramas, saying it is like a “dream come true moment” and a “perfect marriage”.
Khurrana is headlining the next movie of the filmmaker, best known for hit films like ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’, ‘Vivah’ and ‘Uunchai’. It will feature Sharvari as the female lead.
“It is very exciting. The good thing is that this Prem is very closer to me. Through this film, I have come closer to Sooraj ji... It is like a perfect marriage,” Khurrana said of his character, named Prem, which has become synonymous with Barjatya’s family-centric movies, often portrayed by superstar Salman Khan.
“He makes very few films but he is one of the most successful directors in our country, his track record and success record is the highest in India. It is a matter of pride for me that I’m working on a film with Sooraj Barjatya. It was my childhood dream. We will start work from November 1 on the film. Whenever I meet him, I touch his feet because he is like that, he has that kind of vibe, and he deserves it.”
“Prem is like (Lord) Ram to me because the main character in his (Barjatya) films is a very cultured, well-mannered man, and how a man should be in a society, that is Prem. Perfect green flag is Prem,” the actor said, who became the poster boy of middle-of-the-road cinema like ‘Vicky Donor’, ‘Badhai Ho’, and ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’.
He will also be next seen in Mudassar Aziz’s, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, which stars Sara Ali Khan in the lead role alongside him. The film is scheduled for release in March 2026.
