Television actor Gurucharan Singh, widely recognized for his portrayal of Roshan Singh Sodhi in the beloved sitcom "Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah" (TMKOC), has been missing since April 22, prompting suspicions that he may have staged his disappearance, according to sources within the Delhi police.
Singh, aged 50, allegedly vanished from the vicinity of Delhi Airport, leaving behind his mobile phone in the Palam area, complicating efforts to track him down.
Sources suggest that CCTV footage indicates Singh meticulously planned his departure, as he was observed moving between e-rickshaws shortly before his disappearance.
Initial reports revealed that Singh was last seen near Delhi airport on April 22, carrying a backpack and intending to board a flight to Mumbai.
However, he never arrived at his destination nor returned home, leading to his father filing a missing person report with the Delhi Police on April 26.
Subsequently, an FIR under Section 365 of the Indian Penal Code, pertaining to abduction, was registered by authorities on April 27.
Despite ongoing efforts to locate him, Singh's whereabouts remain unknown, and his phone has remained inaccessible since his disappearance.
Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, President of the All Indian Cine Workers Association, amid growing concerns, urged Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena to expedite the investigation into the actor's mysterious absence.
Responding to the situation, DCP South West Delhi, Rohit Meena, confirmed the formation of a dedicated probe team to investigate Singh's disappearance.
He disclosed that the team is analyzing CCTV footage, which captured Singh walking alone, and assured that both traditional and technical investigative methods are being employed.
Gurucharan Singh's absence has not only left fans of TMKOC in distress but has also raised questions within the entertainment industry.
