Urmila Matondkar has reportedly initiated divorce proceedings with her husband of eight years, Mohsin Akhtar Mir.
Their wedding, which occurred on February 4, 2016, garnered attention for several reasons, including being an interfaith marriage and the 10-year age disparity between the partners.
Despite an initially strong relationship, the couple's nearly decade-long marriage has unfortunately reached its conclusion. While the exact reasons for their separation remain unclear, sources from a Mumbai court have verified the divorce filing, which does not seem to be mutual.
Urmila and Mohsin's romance began at a high-profile wedding in 2014, where they first met at the nuptials of designer Manish Malhotra’s niece. Urmila, an established Bollywood actress, and Mohsin, a businessman and model from Kashmir, quickly formed a bond.
In 2016, they marked their marriage with a private and intimate ceremony, attended only by close friends and family.
Originally from Kashmir, Mohsin Akhtar Mir relocated to Mumbai at the age of 21 to pursue his aspirations in the film industry.
He appeared in Bollywood films such as It's A Man's World (2009), Luck by Chance (2009), Mumbai Mast Kallander (2011), and B.A. Pass (2012).
Although he had a few acting roles, Mohsin eventually redirected his focus to business and became associated with designer Manish Malhotra’s fashion label.
