Indian pop star Usha Uthup's husband, Jani Chacko Uthup, passed away at the age of 78 in Kolkata.

According to their family, Jani passed away in Kolkata on Monday after feeling unwell while watching TV at home.

He was taken to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The family stated that a severe cardiac arrest was the cause of death.

Jani, who worked in the tea plantation industry, was Usha's second husband. They first met in the early '70s at the renowned Trincas.

In addition to Usha, he is survived by a son and a daughter.

The family has announced that the funeral will take place on Tuesday.
