Vikrant Massey's "12th fail" gets top spot at Critics' Choice awards

The sixth edition of the Critics' Choice Awards saw top accolades going to Vikrant Massey's film "12th Fail" and Sudip Sharma's crime series "Kohrra."

The award ceremony, held on Tuesday, recognised outstanding achievements in feature films, short films, and web series from India across various languages and platforms.

 

In the film category, "12th Fail," directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, claimed the Best Feature Film award, with Vikrant Massey winning Best Actor. The movie is an adaptation of Anurag Pathak's bestselling novel, depicting the remarkable journey of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and IRS officer Shraddha Joshi.

 

Shefali Shah received the Best Actress award for her role in the drama film "The Three of Us," which also earned Avinash Arun Dhaware the Best Cinematography accolade.

 

The Tamil drama "Koozhangal," India's official entry for the Oscars 2022, secured the Best Director trophy for P S Vinothraj.

 

Jaideep Ahlawat and Deepti Naval were honoured as Best Supporting Actor and Actress, respectively, for their performances in "Jaane Jaan" and "Goldfish."

The Manoj Bajpayee-starrer "Joram" won two awards, Best Writing for Devashish Makhija and Best Editing for Abhro Banerjee.

 

"Kohrra," featuring Suvinder Vicky and Barun Sobti, was named the Best Series, with Vicky winning Best Actor and Gunjit Chopra, Diggi Sisodia, and Sudip Sharma receiving the Best Writing award.

 

Vikramaditya Motwane claimed the Best Director award for the period drama series "Jubilee," while Sidhant Gupta won Best Supporting Actor.

Rajshri Deshpande received the Best Actress award for the series "Trial By Fire," and Amruta Subhash won Best Supporting Actress for "Lust Stories S2: The Mirror."

 

In the short film segment, Reema Maya's "Nocturnal Burger" won three awards — Best Short Film, Best Director, and Best Actress for Millo Sunka. "Giddh," starring Sanjay Mishra, earned Best Actor and Best Writing for Ashok Sankhla and Manish Saini. Jigmet Wangchuk received the Best Cinematography honour for "Last Days of Summer."

 

Ajitpal Singh's "Fire in the Mountains" received the Gender Sensitivity Award, while veteran music director Usha Khanna was honoured with the Extraordinary Contribution to Cinema Award at the ceremony organized by the Film Critics Guild and Group M Motion Entertainment, in collaboration with Vistas Media Capital.
