With India set to host the Miss World pageant for the third time, the stage is set in Telangana, Hyderabad, where the 72nd edition of the beauty competition will be held on May 31, 2025, at the HITEX Exhibition Centre. Of the almost 100 contestants, two have already touched down in the City of Pearls - Miss Brazil and Miss Canada. Jessica Scandiuzzi Pedroso and Emma Deanna Cathryn Morrison were accorded a warm welcome at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport during the weekend.
India’s representative at the forum, Femina Miss India World 2023, Nandini Gupta, said that an intense training schedule was underway with less than a month left for the big event. The Kota girl, who is intent on delivering her best, added that she is learning more about Telangana and Hyderabad and what the two places have to offer.
Of late, Telangana has received ample boost as a tourist hub. The state government, meanwhile, also revealed special initiatives to popularise the state as a multidimensional and culturally-vibrant place. The Miss World pageant will be another feather in its cap that will help boost the state’s tourism potential on the global map.
According to the Miss World contestants’ itinerary, there has been arranged a special heritage walk from Charminar to Laad Bazaar on May 12 to throw light on Hyderabad’s cultural history. Other places of interest that are on the schedule for a visit are the Chowmahalla Palace, Warangal’s Thousand Pillar Temple, Warangal Fort, and Ramappa Temple (a UNESCO World Heritage Site).
The contestants are also slated to try their hands at handloom weaving and textile artistry at Pochampally and in an arts and crafts workshop at Shilparamam. Ramoji Film City – one of the world’s largest film studios – and the Experium Park are also listed on their itinerary. Interestingly, the state government has also designed a tour of the leading hospitals for the contestants in a bid to promote medical tourism.
Miss World 2023, Krystyna Pyszkova, had visited Hyderabad earlier this year along with Julia Morley, CEO and Chairperson of the Miss World Organization, to review the event’s arrangements. “I love the Indian sparkle that the last edition had, and it will be just amazing this time as well. India has a lot to offer, and I’m looking forward to experiencing it all,” said the beauty queen who will crown her successor this year.
The sixth and most recent Indian woman to have won the Miss World crown was Manushi Chhillar, who won the title in 2017.
