With the onset of the second phase of nomination for ensuing Lok Sabha polls, which is slated to take place on April 26, candidates have hit the streets with valour and determination to take on their opponents.
A show of similar grit was visible when Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra stepped on to Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency to connect with the local masses.
Since Thursday morning, Moitra visited several places of her constituency and interacted with the locals.
By having a one-to-one conversation with the womenfolk of her constituency, Moitra tried to understand their problems. She spoke to children who were excited to see her.
Besides this, making tea at local shop is a known tactic which she implements whenever polls are round the corner. While visiting Kaliganj assembly constituency, which falls under Krishnanagar, Moitra made tea at a shop and offered to the locals. She had adopted the same gimmick while campaigning for the panchayat elections of 2023.
In the garb of answering questions of the media personnel present at the spot, Moitra took a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Krishnanagar Amrita Roy.
“I welcome the BJP candidate to contest Lok Sabha polls from the constituency. I am always in favour of free and fair elections. I would want the BJP candidate to come and visit every assembly constituency that comes under this Lok Sabha seat and take note of the ground situation. I have heard that she avoids crowd. But, in order to campaign, she will have to be among the masses.”
Given Moitra's schedule to visit her constituency to campaign for the general elections, she skipped the Enforcement Directorate’s summons for questioning her today in New Delhi on her alleged involvement in Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) contravention case.
