Tragedy strikes newlyweds

The massive fire in Rajkot has ruined several families. While the government has so far declared 34 dead, the real figure is expected to be far more as many bodies may have been burned into ashes. Depending on the missing complaints, the death toll could go beyond 40.

Akshay Dholariya, 24, was studying and working in Canada. His wife Khyati, 20, was a resident of Rajkot. Their registered marriage was organised in India on the 18th of May. They were planning to soon leave for Canada and had planned a big wedding bash for December.

But, as they say, ‘Man proposes, God disposes’.

After returning to India 10 days ago, both got married in the presence of family and friends, while Akshay’s parents were back in the USA. The couple and Khyati’s sister Harita Savaliya had gone to the game zone for an outing. They were there when the fire took place and all three of them could not escape the fire and lost their lives.

While DNA identification of Khyati and Harita has already been done, Akshay’s parents Kishorbhai and Heenaben have left for India from the USA. The DNA identification will be done once they reach here.

5 from the same family dead, 3 injured

A group of 8 family members were at Game Zone to celebrate their daughter's birthday. Out of 8, 5 are missing and 3 have been admitted to Rajkot’s Giriraj Hospital.

The five missing include the birthday girl, 15-year-old Devanshiba Jadeja, her brother Dharmarajsinh, 12, her cousin Rajbha Chauhan, 16 and Devanshi’s father Virendrasinh and uncle Omdevsinh Gohil. The DNA reports of these 5 are awaited.”

Reportedly, Rajbha did not want to go to the game zone, but his mother forced her to go for the birthday celebration.

Rajbha’s mother’s health has also deteriorated after the news came in.

Rajbha and the other two children were studying at Rajkot’s Rajkumar College.

According to Rajbha’s teacher, “he was a very promising and dynamic student who had a very bright future. It is still difficult to believe that he is not there anymore.”

DNA matching results are awaited to confirm their demise.

A father issues a death threat if the culprits get bail

Rajbha’s father Pradipsinh Chauhan, who lost 5 family members, has threatened that if any of the culprits get bailed, he will kill them. He said “No advocate should take his case, if anyone wants to take it, I will pay Rs. 2 lakhs more to the advocate to not take the case.”

He has demanded that no punishment less than hanging is acceptable to him. He said that he has lost 5 people from his family and is going to donate all the financial aid given by the government.

Meanwhile, the DNA samples have been air-lifted to Gandhinagar FSL Lab. The results may take 24-48 hours.
