Bengaluru beggar revealed as college dropout, not techie

A Bengaluru beggar, who previously claimed to be a techie from Frankfurt, has now admitted to being an engineering college dropout.

News Arena Network - Bengaluru - UPDATED: December 1, 2024, 06:21 PM - 2 min read

Bengaluru beggar, who once claimed to be a techie in Frankfurt, now admits he’s a college dropout.

Bengaluru influencer Sharath Yuvaraj, who previously shared the story of Krishna, a beggar with a surprising past, has provided an update on the situation.

In an interview, Sharath confirmed that Krishna had claimed to be a tech professional with a promising career in Frankfurt and Bengaluru, but it was later revealed that he is actually an engineering college dropout. Sharath explained that Krishna made these claims under the influence of alcohol.

Krishna, the beggar, had disappeared after his story went viral. Sharath had earlier mentioned that Bengaluru Police launched a "beggar’s drive" to locate him.

However, in new Instagram posts, Sharath shared that Krishna is now receiving treatment at NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences).

Krishna’s story, which made headlines over the weekend, painted a sad picture of how alcohol addiction and personal losses affected his life. In recent videos, Krishna opened up about his struggles, the impact of his addiction, and his desire to start over.

Reflecting on his past, Krishna shared, "I regret everything I’ve done. I want a fresh start. I began begging because of alcohol, and now I’m exhausted by this life. I want to live clean and properly—that’s all I want."

When asked about his recovery plan, Krishna said, "First, I need to rebuild my health. Alcohol has drained me physically and affected me in many ways. I’m willing to take any menial job to get back into society. I’ve lost the ability to interact with people, but I’m determined to try."

Krishna also spoke about his lost dream of creating a school called Dharamshala, which he imagined as a place for "virtue and wisdom."

He recalled, "When I was drinking, I lived in a fantasy world. I thought I had already set up the school, and students were waiting for me. But when I sobered up, I realised the truth. My health was deteriorating, and I felt trapped in depression and drinking."

He added, "I now understand that I was never living in reality. I was stuck in a dream, thinking my goals had been achieved, while in reality, I was losing everything."
