As many as ten Israeli Special Forces soldiers were seriously injured during an overnight operation against Hezbollah on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, according to military sources.
The soldiers were reportedly injured while being air-dropped by helicopter near a border town in northern Lebanon. Hezbollah fighters detected the movement and engaged the troops immediately after insertion.
The injured soldiers have been identified by various sources as Eyal ben Mirav, Eyal ben Keren, David ben Sima, Yinon ben Orit, Ariel ben Esther, Ron ben Natalia, Banaya ben Revital, Metanel ben Tziviya, Yinon ben Hadassah, and Matan Mordechai ben Meira.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry confirmed on Saturday that 12 people were killed and 16 others injured in the village of Nabi Chit following heavy exchanges, with Hezbollah claiming significant damage inflicted on Israeli forces.
Meanwhile, Iranian authorities reported eight deaths in the latest US-Israeli strikes on Saturday, as Tehran launched a fresh wave of drone and missile attacks in retaliation. The overall death toll in the ongoing conflict has now surpassed 1,400. Iran has suffered the highest casualties at 1,332—mostly civilians—since the start of US-Israeli operations.
Lebanon has recorded around 50 deaths, Israel 11, and the United States six direct combat-related fatalities. Gulf States, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE have also reported casualties, primarily among foreign nationals working in those countries.
UN experts have called for an independent investigation into the attack on a girls’ school in Iran’s Minab region that killed 165 students, with reports indicating direct US involvement in the strike.
Domestically, the Trump administration faces mounting pressure over the war’s escalating costs—estimated at $1 billion per day in operational expenses.
Several US Congress members have criticised the decision to enter the conflict as hasty and poorly planned, attributing it to Israeli influence.
