Pakistan's security forces killed three more terrorists in the ongoing anti-terror operation in Balochistan, taking the total number of terrorists killed in Operation Shaban to 127, sources said on Friday.
It is learnt that since July 5, a total of "127 terrorists have been killed in Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out across the province". The combined death toll from the terror attacks and response measures by Pakistan has reached over 169, including four civilians, 27 police personnel, and 11 security personnel.
The operation, code-named "Shaban", was launched to flush out the remaining assets and terrorist entities, particularly the Baloch Liberation Army and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, from the mountainous regions in a coordinated effort, officials said.
Interior Minister Ishaq Dar said that "anti-terror operations, which include the military, paramilitary rangers, and the FC corps, along with teams from the Special Services Group (SSG), will continue until the mission objectives are achieved."
Besides aerial bombings with the help of drones, helicopters and F-16 fighter jet strikes are being carried out in the northern region, officials said.
A large cache of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the killed militants, including M4 rifles, submachine guns, rocket launchers, mobile phones, and other equipment, security sources confirmed on Friday.
The deadliest attack on July 5 targeted a police checkpoint at Mangi Dam in Ziarat District, where militants killed nine policemen before abducting 18 others.
