At least 25 Indian tourists sustained injuries after the bus transporting them to Pokhara in Nepal met with an accident in the country’s Dang district, Nepal Police said on Saturday.

According to Indian officials, 19 of the injured tourists were later shifted to the community health centre at Tulsipur in Uttar Pradesh’s Balrampur district, which shares a border with Nepal. The remaining were treated in Nepal.

The incident, which occurred on Friday, is suspected to have been caused by brake failure. Most of the travellers hailed from Lucknow, Sitapur, Hardoi, and Barabanki districts of Uttar Pradesh, local police officials informed.

Nepalese police personnel from Gadhawa responded swiftly upon receiving news of the mishap. “The injured were immediately transported to a local health centre,” a Nepalese officer stated. “Nineteen of them were later shifted to Tulsipur for further treatment.”

Circle Officer (Tulsipur) Brijnandan Rai confirmed that “19 Indians were undergoing treatment at the local community health centre.” He further added that “some of the injured were discharged after first aid while the condition of three was critical and they were being treated in a Nepal hospital.”

Authorities have not yet released an official list of the victims. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing, though brake failure remains the primary suspicion.

Indian and Nepalese authorities continue to coordinate the response, as arrangements are being made for the return and continued care of the injured once their condition stabilises.

This is a developing story...
