Three hundred Kashmiri students stranded in Bangladesh amid the ongoing political turmoil there have appealed to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for immediate evacuation.

One of the founding members, Dr. Waseem Khan of the Jammu and Kashmir Medical Students Association, informed reporters that most of the stranded students are interns at various medical colleges in Bangladesh.

"Most of them stayed to handle emergencies in hospitals despite having the option to return. The situation has worsened, and now they require immediate evacuation," he said.

Dr. Khan specified that 30 intern doctors are currently at Ad-Din Medical College Hospital, while three students are at MAG Osmani Medical College in Sylhet.

"We are in contact with these students and are urging the MEA to prioritise their evacuation so they can reunite with their families," he added.

Another student reported that those who have stayed behind, particularly interns, are isolated in hostels without sufficient food and basic necessities.

Nasir Khuehami, National Convenor of the J&K Students Association (JKSA), confirmed the presence of many students still in Bangladesh.

"We are in touch with authorities and hopeful of their prompt return," he said.

Khuehami also mentioned that while the government had facilitated repatriation and issued advisories, some students chose to stay behind.

Those wishing to return are advised to contact the association via email at jandkstudentsassociation1111@gmail.com for assistance with the MEA.

Recently, 3,500 Kashmiri students were successfully evacuated from Bangladesh, thanks to the swift action of the MEA.

Nasir Khuehami praised External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar for his effective intervention, noting that nearly all students had safely returned home.

He also highlighted the assistance provided to students who lost their passports or faced other documentation issues through coordinated efforts.

Meanwhile, the MEA has issued an advisory against travel to Bangladesh until further notice.

"All Indian nationals currently in Bangladesh are advised to exercise extreme caution, restrict their movements, and stay in contact with the High Commission of India in Dhaka via emergency phone numbers: +8801958383679, +8801958383680, and +8801937400591."
