As many as 34 terrorists belonging to Fitna Al Khawarij, an offshoot of TTP, have been killed in multiple encounters with Pakistani forces in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region on Thursday night, officials said.
According to a statement issued by the DGISPR on Thursday, an intelligence-based operation was conducted by the security forces in the Spinwam area of the North Waziristan district. During the operation, the troops engaged and killed 18 terrorists belonging to the Khawarij group.
Meanwhile, in an intelligence-based operation in the South Waziristan district, eight more terrorists were killed. In the third encounter that took place in the Banu district, the Pakistani forces said they killed eight more Khawarij terrorists. Taking the total number to 34.
The term 'Khawarij' is associated with terror groups which wear Islamic names yet kill innocent people regardless of their religious identities.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that security forces have a free hand in tackling the terrorism menace in the country.

In his statement, President Asif Ali Zardari paid rich tribute to the Armed Forces and security agencies of Pakistan for their successful operations against terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in North and South Waziristan and Banu.
In his statement, the Prime Minister also said the security forces foiled the nefarious designs of the terrorists through their professional capabilities.
This comes just two days after Afghanistan and Pakistan stopped fighting at the border, which has so far killed 23 Pakistani soldiers, 200 Afghan Taliban fighters, and dozens of TTP terrorists since last week.
