Russia has launched a massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine, killing as many as six people with dozens injured as Moscow aims to create a strategic dominance over Kyiv, officials said.
Officials on Monday said Russian drones and missiles struck multiple targets across the capital, Kyiv and surrounding regions, causing massive infrastructure damage.
Russia is punishing Ukraine for its two back-to-back drone attacks earlier this month, in which Ukrainian drones damaged Russia’s strategic bombers stationed at the Siberia airbase.
Shortly after these attacks, Putin ordered a massive offensive against Ukraine along the entire battle lines, especially the North Eastern Sumy region, and western parts in Odessa in an attempt to create a new buffer zone by pushing the Ukrainian forces.

The latest attack on the city is the second major attack in less than a week, suggesting that Russia is eager to put more pressure as global attention is concentrated on the United States' decision to join Israel’s war against Iran.
In a statement, Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said, “Another massive attack on the capital. Possibly, several waves of enemy drones.”
Russia said it targeted the military infrastructure, while Ukrainian forces said Russian forces targeted the civilian areas, raising questions on the credibility of the versions told by either side, as both sides have resorted to propaganda throughout the war.
Meanwhile, a Russian short-range drone attack in the Chernihiv region late on Sunday killed two people and wounded 10 others, including three children, according to authorities.
Another person was killed and eight were wounded overnight in the city of Bila Tserkva, some 85km (53 miles) southwest of Kyiv, taking the total casualties to 9 people in three days, with dozens more injured.
