The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit on Saturday adopted key declarations regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI) and changing demographics as it wrapped up in South Korea’s Gyeongju.
The 2025 summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum adopted a joint leaders' declaration as it concluded in South Korea on Saturday.
Leaders from member states who assembled in Gyeongju also agreed on an Artificial Intelligence Initiative and the APEC Framework for Cooperation on addressing ageing Population Structure Changes.
During the closing ceremony of the 2025 APEC summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that his country will host the next APEC summit at the country’s tech hub in Shenzhen next year in November.

It will be the third time in recent times that China has hosted the meeting. Xi said, “Shenzhen is China's Silicon Valley, a miracle created by the hard work of the Chinese people.”
Xi said the world needs to establish a global organisation for making cooperation and coordination on artificial intelligence possible for the betterment of humanity.
In his remarks, he noted that APEC is the most important platform for Asia-Pacific economic cooperation. He said the APEC region accounts for 50 per cent of global trade and more than 61 per cent of the world’s gross domestic product (GDP).
While speaking at the summit on Friday, Xi had called for protection of the multilateral trading system and deeper economic collaboration.
