The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will raise the issue of the delayed handover of the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup trophy at the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) quarterly meeting in Dubai, confirmed BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia.

Saikia said that the matter, which has been pending for over a month, will be formally discussed during the ICC meetings scheduled between November 4 and 7. He noted that despite repeated correspondence with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), the trophy has not yet been returned to India.

“I have made my position clear from the BCCI's point of view that we’ll wait for another two to three days. If the trophy is not returned to us, we will raise the issue at the ICC meeting starting on November 4. We are waiting for the next two days now,” Saikia told the media on Saturday.

“Yes, we sent a letter to the ACC ten days ago. If the trophy doesn’t come, then we’ll raise our grievance to the ICC, as that is the highest body in cricket,” he added.

The controversy arose after India declined to accept the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, the ACC Chairman and Pakistan’s Interior Minister, following their five-wicket win over Salman Agha & Co. at the Dubai International Stadium on September 28.

The match marked India’s ninth Asia Cup triumph, but the team celebrated without a physical trophy or players’ medals.

The decision to refuse the trophy presentation, attributed to ongoing cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, led to chaotic scenes after the final. Reports later emerged that Naqvi had indicated plans to personally hand over the trophy on November 10.

According to sources, Naqvi has offered to organise a formal event in Dubai this month to present the Asia Cup trophy to the Indian men’s team. The proposal followed an exchange of letters between the ACC and the BCCI in an attempt to resolve the impasse.

However, despite BCCI’s official correspondence to the ACC, the issue remains unresolved. Reports also suggested that the trophy has been moved from the ACC headquarters to an undisclosed location, further complicating efforts to close the matter.

The BCCI is expected to seek the ICC’s intervention to ensure that the Asia Cup trophy and the winner’s medals are returned to the Indian side before the upcoming international cricket calendar resumes.
