Bhutan's Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay is poised to embark on a five-day visit to India commencing Thursday, marking his inaugural foreign trip since assuming office in January.
During his visit, Tobgay will engage in extensive discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will also pay respects to President Droupadi Murmu, as per the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announcement, spanning from March 14 to 18.
The Bhutanese premier's itinerary further includes a scheduled visit to Mumbai.
"The forthcoming visit of the Prime Minister of Bhutan presents a valuable opportunity for both nations to evaluate the progress within our distinctive partnership and to explore avenues for further strengthening the enduring bonds of camaraderie and collaboration between India and Bhutan," the MEA articulated in an official statement.
Accompanying Tobgay will be a distinguished delegation comprising several cabinet members and senior officials.
"The alliance between India and Bhutan is emblematic of a remarkable friendship and collaboration, underscored by mutual trust, goodwill, and understanding across all echelons," the MEA elaborated.
The Bhutanese premier is slated to meet with President Droupadi Murmu and engage in bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also extending a courtesy call to the Bhutanese dignitary.
