US President Donald Trump has reportedly told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to give up Crimea and drop aspirations of joining NATO to end the conflict with Russia at the earliest.
Zelensky is travelling to Washington on Monday along with the delegation of several EU leaders for the meeting with Trump, following the first-ever direct meeting between Trump and Putin in Alaska on Friday. Ahead of the meeting, Trump has made it clear to the Ukrainian side that Crimea and NATO membership are off the table for Ukraine, which Zelensky would have to agree to on conceding the land and also his dream of joining NATO.
On late Sunday evening, Donald Trump said that Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky could decide to end the war with Russia 'almost immediately'. Trump, on his Truth Social account, posted that "President Zelensky of Ukraine can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants to, or he can continue to fight.”

Trump seemed to indicate that Zelensky should not only give up retaking Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014, but also several key and important areas like the Donbas region. Also, he must understand that Ukraine may not become a part of NATO due to the possibility of a breakout of war between the bloc and the Russian Federation.
"No getting back Obama given Crimea (12 years ago, without a shot being fired!), and NO GOING INTO NATO BY UKRAINE. Some things never change!!!" he added.
