Five Indian teenagers have been apprehended in Nepal for allegedly kidnapping a 15-year-old boy in Kathmandu, police said on Thursday.
Police said the teenagers allegedly abducted a boy from Nepal's Chitwan district, located about 150 kilometres south of Kathmandu, on Monday.
The victim was reportedly held captive at a hotel in Kathmandu. The accused had allegedly demanded ransom money from the boy's family for his release.
Acting on a secret information, police carried out a raid at the hotel on Tuesday and arrested the suspects involved in the case. Police said all five accused are 18-year-old youths from Bettiah in Bihar, India.
The boy was rescued safely during the operation, police said. The accused have been handed over to the Chitwan District Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
