The CEO of Lamborghini highlights that Indian consumers are among the youngest buyers of luxury sports cars, such as Lamborghini, globally. Despite relatively low sales figures within India, the market shows substantial potential.

Indian buyers exhibit a strong brand awareness, favor personalization, and often make purchases abroad. While the initial surge in demand during the Covid-19 pandemic has subsided, there remains a persistent interest in these high-performance vehicles.

Stephan Winkelmann notes that the majority of Lamborghini buyers in India are under 40 years old, contrasting with the older demographics in more developed economies such as the US and Europe.

Although Lamborghini sold only 103 cars in India in 2023 compared to 10,000 units globally, the brand's awareness has significantly improved in India over recent decades.

Interestingly, many Indian buyers are acquiring Lamborghini cars not just for domestic use but also for properties overseas, reflecting a unique trend. Additionally, there's a growing enthusiasm among customers to experience sports cars firsthand, a shift from previous hesitations.

Regarding customization, Indian buyers are equally demanding as those in the West, seeking high levels of personalization across various aspects of their cars.

Despite a potential slowdown in the initial post-Covid rush, Lamborghini continues to experience strong demand globally, with waiting periods averaging 18-24 months.

While the surge in demand might have evolved from the initial Covid-19 era, there is still a significant market of young affluent consumers worldwide who are eager to invest in luxury items like Lamborghini sports cars.
