Germany has seen a significant increase in Indian tourists choosing the country as their most preferred travel destination, GNTO said.

Germany is aiming to attract 1 million overnight stays from Indian tourists in 2024, buoyed by a surge in interest from travellers in the subcontinent. In 2023, Germany witnessed a notable 32.6 percent year-on-year growth in overnight stays by Indian visitors, reaching 826,703.

Romit Theophilus, Director of Marketing & Sales Office India at the German National Tourist Office (GNTO), said, "We are delighted to see a growing number of Indian tourists choosing Germany as their destination of choice... We look forward to welcoming more Indian visitors and showcasing the best of what Germany has to offer."

On the target for 2024, he said, "Our forecast this year is to close at 1 million overnights from India." GNTO is the official representative office of the German National Tourist Board. It is represented in India by Airplus Travel Services Pvt Ltd.

Theophilus attributed the rising interest among Indian travellers to Germany's appeal as a destination offering a blend of scenic beauty, rich culture, themed routes, and eco-friendly tourism. He highlighted Germany's reputation for warm hospitality and vibrant cuisine, making it an ideal choice for travellers seeking a holistic experience.

"We believe it is the ideal destination for travellers wanting to revel in warm hospitality and scintillating cuisine," Theophilus added.

Germany has witnessed a significant increase in Indian tourists, indicating a growing fascination with its cultural heritage, picturesque landscapes, historic landmarks, and culinary offerings, according to GNTO.
