Iranian state television reported on Sunday that a helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi had made a “hard landing,” and not given further details.
Other media outlets gave conflicting reports saying rescuers were attempting to reach a helicopter involved in an 'incident'.
The incident, according to State TV, took place near Jolfa, close to the Iranian border when Raisi was travelling in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province.
Raisi was in Azerbaijan early on Sunday to inaugurate a dam with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, the third built on the Aras River by the two countries.
